Each year in the US there are approximately 30,000 anaphylactic episodes, involving about 2,000 hospitalizations and 150-200 deaths due to anaphylactic shock.

well that broke my heart in two :(
As an adult with severe food (and some environmental) allergies I know how hard it is to take care of 'me' - I CANNOT fathom what it is like for parents of allergic children :(
